Natural Skincare: Does it actully DO ANYTHING?
Does natural skincare actually do anything FOR ANTI-AGING?
A few years ago I go in the kick of only using natural/organic skincare.
I soon found that while it was lovely to use, smelled nice and felt good (no chemicals is always a good thing), unfortunately except for a few things, most of them just didn't do much.
I quickly went back to my potent "actives" and just made a point of paying closer attention to what I was slathering all over myself.
As an Esthetician, I've used many, many (many) things over the years and I can honestly say, that when I find something I like, it's a revelation!
How to Incorporate Natural and Organic Skincare Into Your Regimen
Overall, I would say I opt for more natural skincare in the daytime, and then I use my actives at night (Sculplla, Neogenesis, retinols, etc.) With retinols, I do like to choose those with at least .75% retinol and other natural ingredients, like this retinol.
If you are looking to use natural products more often to minimize the chemical assault we live with, I would highly recommend doing a little trial and error work to find the best mix for you.
I have to say, you will not see a lot of results with just natural products--they just don't have the actives that will really make a difference, but trying to use them once daily vs. all day is a good start!
Natural skincare products will keep your skin hydrated, smooth and feeling nice, but serious active in a product will actually yield better results.
These are some of my favorites -
SupremeFirm is a natural/organic serum with DMAE (a tightening/firming agent) that I use nearly daily.
The retinol I like is a true retinol (.75%) so it’s potent, yet gentle and affordable (and has a lot of good ingredients in it).
CICA PEPTA is a great moisturizing cream loaded with peptides (and for under $50!).
Always, the NeoGenesis line is a good, Oncologist-approved line of skincare that actually give really visible results! I use the Booster or Recovery layered with the Barrier Renewal cream several times weekly!
My Natural Skincare Choices:
I use the SupremeFirm serum; it is a lightly firming serum packed with natural/organic ingredients. It has DMAE, a firming component I really like. I usually mix in some Vitamin C, too. It's either this or the Cica Pepta (I can't over how many peptides are in this and for such a good price). I've seen the best results by using those.
*Cica Pepta isn’t a natural/organic product, but it’s my personal go-to of choice for AM skincare.
