CREATE A MORE YOUTHFUL JAWLINE (V-LINE) AT HOME

Can you re-sculpt your jawline at home using only devices?

Here is a simple method that pros and DIY skincare junkies are doing to help define and sculpt a jawline that is more youthful.

It is called a V-Line, with the smallest point at the chin and a wider look up the face.

A few notes about doing a V-Line:

Can you do it at home?

Yes…be realize home treatment do not have the power (and professional skill) of in-office treatments. You will get results if you are consistent, however they may not be as impactful as in-office treatments.

The good news is that they will be less painful (in-office RF is painful!) and they will be less expensive overall (once you’ve purchased devices, you own them forever!)

At home treatments are ideal for you under these circumstances:

-You have little sagging; just starting to sag and notice jowling

-You have kept up with your skincare over the years and have a good amount of collagen

-You want to enhance your in-office treatment protocol (always follow the practitioner’s advice in doing extras at home or you may reduce the effects of treatments!)

-You want to age gracefully - nothing drastic!

Would you like to re-define your jawline?

You Can Re-Define Your Jawline for a V-LINE look:

Radio Frequency - This is the gold standard (non-invasive) to help reduce volume, firm, tighten and really re-sculpt this area. It's very hard to do without some form of serious tightening, and RF is the one device that can really help.

You can get RF:

In-office treatments
RF with microneedling (like Ultherapy) - effective, but costly and can be painful. You will likely need a series of treatments. Best if you need serious lifting and/or have not done much in the way of skincare until now.

RF tools at home:

TOOLS LIKE THE ZAQ device can offer LED + RF tightening on a smaller scale for the face, around eyes and mouth.

ZAQ DEVICE

The Curve MBK device - excellent for more intense treatments and it can be used on the body!

RF SIGNAL by MBK - a powerful, professional-level tool for firming

If you have been good about skincare and microsculpting and just need a little help, RF is a great option for home use.

The Curve - excellent device for RF on face (concentrate on jawline and under chin only - do not use RF all over the face for more than a quick pass as it can reduce volume). LED and vibration

THE CURVE IS A RADIO FREQUENCY, LED, CAVITATION/VIBRATION DEVICE

Perfect for:

Under chin and jawline

Body - arms, thighs, legs, stomach

See how THE CURVE works and what it can do

ZAQ tool - Great option for affordability, size (it can work around the eyes as well as the jawline) and it also has multi-function LED, mesoporation / sonic.

There are other tools out there for DIY RF.
I have used many of them (and generally with not much in the way of results).

The Tripollar Stop and similar I’ve used. Enough said.

WHAT TO AVOID WITH HOME RF TREATMENTS AND DEVICES

BE CAREFUL!

Choose wisely and be sure you are getting true RF created by skincare professionals...otherwise you may be getting just a device that heats up (not true RF)!

RF devices can get very hot. You need to keep them moving around on the skin (use with conductive gel and a mist).

LARGE AREAS: The Curve is a very well-made device created by skincare professionals and can work on the face (mostly under jaw/chin) and body.

SMALLER AREAS/EYES: If you are working the eye area as well, I would recommend a smaller device, like the ZAQ tool.

Can you use RF around the eyes?
Yes, you can use RF around the the eyes. Do a shorter pass over under eye and around sides.
You can do longer, sustained passes over a hooded or droopy eye.

Does radio frequency cause volume loss?

SOME RF CAN CAUSE VOLUME LOSS IF MISUSED!

First of all, choose your device wisely. Some devices sold as RF are little more than heated nodes and will not really do much.

Professional and vetted devices (sold by professionals vs. Amazon or Ebay-type sites) will yield better results and be made to cause tightening without a lot of volume loss.

TO AVOID VOLUME LOSS with RF:

Use it only in the areas you want to reduce (upper eyelid puffiness, under shin, jawline and body). Do not do excessive passes over areas. Concentrate only where you need any serious tightening (and don’t mind a little volume loss - like under chin, thighs, arms, etc.)

BEST TOOLS FOR FIRMING FACE | JAWLINE:

Radio Frequency (RF)

This is the best modality for firming facial contours like the jawline, upper eyes, around mouth.

The Curve is excellent for the body, but a larger tool to cover more area.

The RF SIGNAL by MBK

This RF Signal device offers:

Radio Frequency (RF) is a high-frequency electro-magnetic wave which inputs electromagnetic energy into the dermal layers of the skin, stimulating the dermis, heating the collagen to 45~60 ℃, activating collagen shrinkage and re-generating thickness and density to the skin.

What does RF do for the skin/anti-aging:

Studies have found that maintaining a temperature over 115°F (46°C) for over 3 minutes causes your body to release heat-shock proteins. These proteins stimulate your body to create new collagen fibers. RF has shown to tighten and lift loose skin, smoothing wrinkles and making skin more hydrated.

BEST METHOD FOR A V-LINE TREATMENT | JAWLINE | EYES | AT HOME:

  1. Do a light facial massage or use a fascia release tool to help loosen any tightness in connective tissue

  2. Apply conductive gel and mist to clean, exfoliated skin

  3. Start under the chin and work in circles with your tool

  4. After circles (about 3 minutes) you can then work in upward strokes and hold device for just a moment above jawline (avoid working RF in mid to upper face)

  5. Keep device moving - they can heat up and cause burns

  6. Working jawline: Move back and forth along jawline. You can then position device just under jaw and sweep upwards just above jaw and hold (short).

  7. If working the eyes, move to that area and sweep back and forth upper eye/brow area. Avoid eyelid. You can do a few quick sweeps around eye. Do not concentrate in under eye area.

  8. Move device from puffy/upper lid to just above brow and hold (short). Then move to next spot and repeat.

AFTER RF TREATMENT:

You can use LED device (if your device doesn’t have LED). If it does, use the LED feature - be sure to avoid eye area or wear goggles!

Use a cold jade or stone roller after treatment (keep it in the fridge). This will help reduce redness and soothe the area.

Remove any left over gel / wash face, if necessary and apply serums and creams as usual.

HOW TO SUPER-CHARGE YOUR TREATMENT AT HOME

Working with your RF treatment devices, you can add a semi-deep microneedling treatment for even more results!
This will (sort of) mimic an in-office RF microneedling treatment (not nearly as deep, powerful or painful)

How should you do a microneedling with radio frequency at home?

First, do you your RF treatment (with conductive gel and mist)

Cleanse your skin TWICE - you want it very clean and all residue removed. Use a gel/water-based cleanser (nothing that leaves residue or moisture).

Swipe skin with an alcohol wipe - use a prepared wipe (like this) or dampen a cotton pad and add a little isopropyl alcohol. Swipe over all skin to be microneedled.

Use a clean microneedle - roller, stamp or pen. I like to use an adjustable microneedling pen (like this one) for a deeper treatment.

CAUTION: DO NOT GO DEEPER THAN .75 in your home treatment. This can cause bleeding, skin issues and serious problems. Let the professionals do any deeper treatments!

Start at .25 or .50 and go over your face, neck, dec.

Then move the needle up one notch: if at .25, move up to .50; if at .50, move up to .75

Go back over these areas with the deeper microneedle setting:

  • Along jawline

  • Under jawline

  • Under chin

  • Around ears

  • Behind ears

  • Neck and sides of neck

  • Near back of neck

    After your treatment:

  • DO NOT APPLY ANYTHING - Do not wash your face or apply any serums for at least 45 minutes. If you need to, splash your face with cool water only.

  • After 45-minutes to one hour, apply a recovery serum, like NEOGENESIS RECOVERY. This will help your skin heal, recover and regenerate new collagen.

For the next 24-48 hours, use your RECOVERY serum and a light moisturizer (I like the Barrier Renewal cream by NeoGenesis).

After that, you can use any of your regular skincare items.

HOW OFTEN TO DO THE SUPER-CHARGED TREATMENT (RF + MICRONEEDLING)

  • Do your RF treatments at least twice weekly.

  • Add the microneedle treatment (for deeper microneedling) only every 30 days.
DO NOT DO MORE OFTEN THAN 30 DAYS.

Your collagen needs at least ~28 to regenerate. Allow at least that amount of time after a deep microneedling for collagen to propogate.

How long to see results from home microneedling + radio frequency?

You should see instant results from the microneedling - your skin will be brighter, glowing, softer. In 30-60 you will see more tightening and collagen. It takes time, so be patient.

RF takes about 30-90 days to see good results. If you do it consistently for at least 30 days, you will see results faster. Do it at least twice weekly.

Remember, do not overdo RF in areas you do not want super-tightened (and potentially a little volume loss). Only go over jowls, jawline, under chin, Keep all other passes lighter and less concentrated.
