WHAT SKINCARE DEVICES CAN DO (and cannot do) and how to get better results

What devices can (and can’t do) and what to do to get better results

What devices do well

Facial devices can have different modalities and treatment purposes: LED can build collagen, help calm skin, provide a brighter complexion. Radio frequency (RF) devices can help tighten sagging skin and provide some hydration. Microcurrent/EMS can help lift and sculpt the muscles under the skin to provide a more lifted and youthful appearance. Ultrasound can work on a deeper cellular level to provide plumping and lifting effect.

Devices cannot restore lost volume, however they can help to temporarily plump and improve facial balance, and soften certain lines by providing (again, temporary) structural support. Using devices can enhance contours, refresh areas like the cheeks or around mouth, and help create a more rested appearance.

What devices cannot do

Devices cannot moisturize and provide hydration. They cannot create a dewey appearance and they generally cannot do much to help uneven texture or deeply lined skin. Those are better addressed with targeted skincare, like the QUL Glo Serum or the PLLA-infused line, CAVIPLLA by HOP+.

Why combining treatments matters

Think of devices as (generally) providing structure under the skin, while skin treatments improve the canvas. When skin quality is poor, even using the best devices cannot do much to help the skin look  smooth and glowing. When the skin is healthy, hydrated, and collagen-rich, devices have a much better chance of yielding satisfying and lasting results and create a look more natural and balanced.

Skin treatments that complement devices include:

  • Microneedling or nanoneedling to stimulate collagen and improve texture – the device and a good, quality serum (growth factors or exosomes) can be a dynamite duo

  • Cleanser, masks and exfoliants to deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate the skin create a much nicer final result for microcurrent, RF and ultrasound

  • RF and home laser treatments to gently tighten and boost collagen

  • High frequency/ozone to help calm and soothe acne/troubled skin for a more even appearance.

Together, they create results that are more complete and tend to be a little longer lasting. If you have questions about your own skincare routine, I can help create a personalized treatment plan that combines the right tools at the right time to support natural, healthy-looking results.

Start with a good cleanser before using devices or skincare.
