THE LED LIGHT THERAPY GUIDE FOR ANTI-AGING SKINCARE:

Questions and Answers About LED Light Therapy:

RED LED LIGHT THERAPY

RED: By far, one of the most popular skincare treatments is the use of red LED light. This acts on cells in the skin known as fibroblasts, which are key players in the production of collagen.

Some promising studies also show that red light may help to restore hair for those with (alopecia) male/female-pattern hair loss.

BLUE LED LIGHT THERAPY

BLUE: Blue LED light is most often used to treat acne and problematic skin. This is done by reducing activity in the sebaceous (oil) glands. Less oil produced = less blocking the follicles/pores that leads to acne and breakouts.Blue light may also kill acne-causing bacteria!

DUAL-USE RED & BLUE: Dual therapy LED light using both blue and red light settings are used to help fight acne; blue light targets the acne and the red lights target inflammation and redness.

GREEN LED LIGHT THERAPY

GREEN: Green light has a calming and brightening effect. It helps to lighten hyperpigmentation (dark spots) and used consistently, can reveal a brighter overall complexion. The green lights have a calming effect for anti-inflammatory properties that soothe the surface of the skin.

The TIME MASTER PRO has an excellent multi-light therapy feature. You can get an LED light treatment (red, blue, green, multi or multi-flashing (my favorite!) during your plumping and firming treatment!

MULTI-LED LIGHT THERAPY

MULTI-LIGHT THERAPY: Some tools offer multi-light therapy, giving you a blast of these combined lights interspersed together to create collagen boost, calm and brighten and reduce any problematic bacteria.

CHOOSING A LIGHT/LED SKINCARE TOOL:

Choosing a tool is important! While you may find cheaper versions that promise to provide these therapies, be careful as some can be simply colored light and NOT the therapeutic-level needed to cause any real change in the skin.

Do your homework and choose tools that are backed by science and skincare and have the appropriate wavelengths to really work.

This RED LIGHT tool has a calming effect on skin and helps boost collagen. It has a wavelength of 630 nm / hand-held / inexpensive.

WHAT LED WAVELENGTHS SHOULD MY SKINCARE TOOL HAVE?

While different wavelengths affect the body for various uses (skincare, paint therapy, hair growth, etc.), the most effective wavelengths for red light therapy and healing range from 625nm-900nm.

HOW CAN IT BE USED?

Held for the session (usually 3 minutes), you can target wrinkles, fine lines, discoloration, acne and even help boost the collagen.

My Notes:

I love light therapy and I personally think it works really well, when used consistently and with the right tools. I've found the red light works in tandem with the green light to help calm skin after irritating treatments, like chemical peels, deeper microneedling and lasers, etc.

I will use the TMP multi-light setting most often (during my Time Master Pro treatments), as I love the BRIGHT glow it gives skin, but I also really like to use either the TMP or the LED red light tool targeted on lips and forehead lines. I use this on my lips (along with the Mesolyft microneedle for Lips) several times a week and I’ve seen real visible results!
