Celebrity-Inspired Ageless Beauty Tips:

Blondes: Some who get it right and "When is a good thing too much?"

Ageless Beauty:
Diane Keaton does it right with a simple cut, neutral makeup and great hair color that looks natural, not forced. No garish blush or dark lip color makes her look very youthful and brings focus to her, not her makeup.

Ageless Beauty: OK, so she's already gorgeous, but as Michelle Pfeiffer has aged, she looks beautiful, natural and effortless. No overly plumped lips or strangely "too blonde" hair. She's added more golden tones. She wears neutral makeup, playing up her beautiful blue eyes and a natural hair style and highlights.

What do you notice first?
Sorry, but this beautiful woman has chosen to go overboard (in our opinion). The too-light hair color, the brows, the spikey lashes and too-black eyeliner are all making her look older and what your eye is drawn to vs. her true beauty.

For the most naturally beautiful look (and isn't that what we're all aiming for?) stick with more natural blonde tones and give up the heavy club makeup--especially during daytime hours! You can still play with fun colors and trends, but tone them waaaay down!

F
or blondes over 40, some good color choices would be:

Eyes: Neutral matte (very important) tones of lavender, grey, slate blue and cool browns (make sure they are not too orange). Line with a deep grey/charcoal or navy (vs. harsh black).

Lips: Neutral with a hint of pink or rose -- don't choose neutrals that look too light or like foundation (gives you a corpse look!) Shimmer is OK as long as it's no glitter!

Cheeks: A true pink or rosey pink is perfect, but again, be careful of orange undertones or glitter! You can swipe a bit of pink or opal highligher over or under the blush for a little gleam.

Hair: Go for richer tones and give up the platinum which can make you look older and tired vs. younger. Also, keep your brows in tone with your hair color (no dark brows, no matter how trendy). If you color at home, splurge on one trip a year with a colorist to update your look. Stick to whatever colors he/she uses when perking up your color yourself. Also, painting on a very few (do go overboard) highlights or lowlights will help your tone look more natural.

Vibrant Red Heads (a la Sharon Osbourne)
Red is a hot color (no pun intended!) and there are so many shades to choose from!

Gone are limited three choices of the orange reds, strawberry blonde and auburn. Now there are numerous color choices for this eye-catching color!

But the makeup palette needs to correspond with the color. Redheads used to be automatically steered toward the "warm tones," like copper, brick and gold, but not all redheads are created equal.

Vibrant, cooler shades of red (like Sharon Osbourne's) are gorgeous and complemented with equally cool/neutral makeup.

Notice her eyes are not swabbed with brown, but a neutral, matte tone accented by a deeper liner and lots of mascara. This is a perfect look for ageless eyes.

Her lips are neutral (not too brown or pink) and her cheeks are given a swash of blush to complement her skintone and hair (again, not too brown or pink).

The overall look is definitely noticeable but ageless. It accents her lovely green eyes, vibrant hair tones and enhances her bone structure.

Some good color choices would be:

Eyes: Neutral matte (very important) tones of lavender, grey and cool browns. Line with a deep grey/charcoal (vs. harsh black) or espresso brown.

Lips: Neutral with a hint of peach or coral -- don't choose neutrals that look too light or like foundation (gives you a corpse look!) Also, stay away from anything too shimmery or sparkley. The attention is on the eyes with this look, so keep the lips neutral and lightly glossy.

Cheeks: A bronzey peach is perfect, but again, not too orange or sparkley! You can swipe a bit of highligher over or under the blush for a little gleam.
